Sun. Beach. Good Vibes
In late February, I had the chance to travel in India with my friends. This would be our last trip in India together before graduating and leaving India so for the most part it was very meaningful. My friends and I decided to go to Goa (very original) for a couple of days, to relax and unwind before completing our fourth term. Our group had 10 people and we all weren’t necessarily close but as a group, we functioned quite well.
Planning the trip was not very difficult as we had a lot of information given to us by the Indian students in our group. We were able to easily find affordable accommodation and transportation to Goa. We had booked to stay in a cheap hostel on Tito’s lane (the busiest lane in Mapusa) that was central to everything we wanted i.e. the beach, the restaurants and the night life. In terms of transportation, we booked an A/C sleeper bus that traveled at night, so most of our journey was spent sleeping.
On arrival in Goa, we found it difficult to locate our hostel because there was no clear sign on where it was. After 20 minutes of walking around and looking hopeless, we found the hostel and were able to unwind and head down to the beach to relax. The beach was very beautiful and there were numerous shacks around.
We spent the entire day at the beach chilling, relaxing and hydrating because the temperature was booming! We also got into the water and relaxed at the shore for sometime before heading back to sleeping on the sun beds. Whenever we were at the beach, we would draw so much attention from those around us because we were such a diverse group of people. Often, people would walk up to us individually and ask us where we were from and if they could take pictures with us. After the sun set, we walked back to our hostel and got ready for the evening.
In the evening, we had dinner at a nice restaurant close by and when the night would fall, we went out to nearby clubs and danced until the morning. We had a really good time partying and different people would approach us again and again asking for photos.
The following day, we carried out the same relaxing routine. On the second night, when we were out dancing, a kind old man came and started making for us flower crowns from the flowers he did not manage to sell on that day. We managed to stay up until 6AM and walked down to the beach to watch the sunrise in the morning (we then realized that the sun rises on the other side and ended up heading to sleep.) We followed this same routine for the 3 days and 2 nights we spent at Goa.
The last day was spent at the beach and then we caught a bus back to Pune in the evening.
Goa was definitely a trip to remember with a group of amazing people. Worth every penny. ❤️
